Coach Ruston
Ruston Aaker has been an athlete all of his life and a martial artist since a young age. He began learning Pak Mei Kung Fu with Sifu Simon Lui in 2009 and is currently the Vice President of the Lam Hung Pak Mei Kung Fu Association. Ruston lives with his wife and three young children on their Roseville Acre where, in addition to daily training, he is creating a mini food forest homestead. Ruston has a passion to bring kung fu and all of the benefits of martial arts to the young people in the community.
“Ever since I can remember, I’ve been devoted to personal growth and this has inspired me to help others grow as well. That’s why I created my training plans — to motivate, challenge, and show you that when it finally gets easier, you will know that you’ve become stronger.”
We at Little Stone Lion use traditional and contemporary training methods to guide learners toward discovering more about themselves and their interactions with energy and people, develop from that baseline into a more coordinated, aware, and intentional Human. Our goal is to develop an ability to preserve life and well-being in a holistic and martial scene as well as preserving traditional arts and methods of gung fu, movement and lifestyle. Students will learn both unarmed martial arts as well as a variety of weapons. All students will be expected with learn any relevant form sets, applications, drills, concepts, live fencing, and live sparring.
We teach Simon Lui Pak Mei Pai Gung Fu and are a member school, in good standing, with the Lam Hung Pak Mei Athletic association of Minnesota.
I’ve been working with sifu Ruston for a few years now and I can only say good things about him. He is extremely patient and knowledgeable. Not only is he able to explain the mechanics of a movement or set of movements extremely well and simply – he is able to perform them at any speed so that you’re able to get an example of what’s expected.
I am extremely grateful to Ruston and I feel honored to be able to work with him.

We found Ruston as a Pak Mei teacher after covid measures sent our previous MMA school into distance learning. My boys were both brown belts and had thoroughly enjoyed the sport since age 7 and 8. Going from in-person to distance learning had started to take away their joy of martial arts. Ruston was sensitive of this and arranged for in person classes for one child, and later both, in a local park. Lessons took place in all weathers and their joy of the sport came back to them. After moving house they again went online, but we have managed to continue to have regular in person meet ups where Ruston has been willing to drive and meet us half way. I can never thank him enough for how accommodating, kind, thoroughly professional, and passionate he has been.
